The Bone Research Society (BRS) Inaugural Cyrus Cooper Medal of Excellence in Mentorship was awarded to Prof Cooper by Dr Kate Ward (Bone Research Society President) and Dr Kassim Javaid (Past president).

‘It was a great privilege to award Cyrus the new medal in recognition of his life long research focus on mentoring basic and clinical researchers, bringing teams together to work collaboratively across the fields of osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, sarcopenia, Paget’s disease of the bone, Behcets, development origins of adult disease and many other areas nationally and internationally,’ said Dr Javaid.

Many of Cyrus’ colleagues across the decades travelled from across the UK to share this special evening, which took part as part of the BRS Oxford Clinical Training Course in Osteoporosis and other Metabolic Bone Diseases. Together the bone community reached out to thank him for all his hard work.
