Ffion Hammond

Postdoctoral Researcher in Immunity and Antimicrobial Resistance

I completed my PhD in infection and immunity at the University of Sheffield, where I investigated potential targets for host-directed therapies for antimicrobial resistant (AMR) infections using zebrafish models.

Following the completion of my PhD, I joined the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology in September 2022 with the Powrie group on the UKRI funded "Beyond Antibiotics" programme. I will use in vitro and in vivo models of Klebsiella pneumonia, one of the six ESKAPE nosocomial pathogens that exhibit multidrug resistance, to study its interactions between the tissue microenvironment, host microbiome, and its modulation of host immunity.
