Associate Professor Hemant Pandit, Deputy Director of OOEC, NDORMS has received a Commendation in this year's Medical Sciences Teaching Excellence Awards.

Professor Pandit was commended "for the high level of teaching he provides in NDORMS, energy, warmth, infectious enthusiasm and going above and beyond to help them achieve their best. His engagement in outreach activities results in many being inspired to take up the orthopaedic specialty."

Hemant is deputy director (Orthopaedics) for the Taught MSc in Musculoskeletal Sciences, a course run for the University of Oxford by NDORMS. He also conducts the "donut rounds" for the fifth year medical students and for this contribution has previously received "excellent teacher" award from the University of Oxford in 2013.

Furthermore, as Co-Director of COOL, a multi-country programme in trauma and orthopaedics training and research in East, Central and Southern Africa, Hemant contributes to postgraduate education in surgery and provides surgical training throughout the region.

"Inspiring students to take up Orthopaedics as a career choice and encouraging them to develop logical thinking is what I enjoy the most", said Hemant.

Congratulations to Hemant and thank you for doing such a fantastic job in shaping healthcare globally through education.
