So, you’ve got a great idea for a research study, and you’re located in one of the world’s top class institutions in which to conduct your work. But who do you need to seek approval from? And how do you go about this? Come along to this talk for an overview of:

  • How research is governed in the UK
  • Which approval bodies are involved
  • A step-by-step guide on how to apply for approval

In particular, the processes of applying to an NHS Research Ethics Committee (REC) and the Health Research Authority (HRA) will be covered.

This will be presented by Dr Kate O’Neill from the University of Oxford’s Clinical Trials and Research Governance team (CTRG). After an extensive career as an academic researcher herself, Kate joined CTRG as a Research Support Associate and provides guidance and support in the design and conduct of clinical research across the University.
