Are you interested in improving universal access to safe surgical and anaesthesia care? This 5-day course is for health professionals interested in expanding their knowledge and understanding of current developments in global surgical and anaesthesia, who would like to explore ways of further involvement in training, research and surgical systems strengthening and potential global surgery career pathways.

Global Anaesthesia Surgery and Obstetric Collaboration (GASOC) Conference

OUGSG is co-hosting the 2018 GASOC conference on Friday 14 September at the Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford, in conjunction with the last day of the Oxford Global Surgery Course. Find out more here.


Regular OUGSG Events




Join us for our regular Thursday seminars at 08.00 at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences (NDS) Seminar room on Level 6 of the John Radcliffe Hospital.  They are open to all, informal, and usually involve a presenter and discussion.

Directions to NDS Seminar Room: From the main entrance of the John Radcliffe Hospital (Level 2) go straight ahead to the main lifts/stairs, go up to Level 6, follow signs for Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, go to the end of the corridor and turn right (through double doors), then it is the first room on the left.

These meetings are held termly at the John Radcliffe Hospital in the early evening to encourage wider networking from around the region.

Shobhana Nagraj of the George Institute will speak on “Technology Implementation in Healthcare in Low and Middle Income Settings” and Robin Youngs, Consultant Otolaryngologist and UK Lead for Global ENT, will speak on "Deafness: the  global burden,  with special reference to  Nepal and Myanmar”



OUGSG joins with Global Surgery groups in London and Birmingham for a regular GASOC Journal Club organized by registrars.
