We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our interdisciplinary and dynamic team focussed on understanding the cellular composition of musculoskeletal tissues in health and disease. They will deliver biologically-informed computational analysis of single-cell resolution datasets of soft and hard musculoskeletal tissues.
As a Postdoctoral Research Associate you will undertake computational analysis for studies and contribute to the overall planning of both laboratory and computational aspects of projects. You will advise and support laboratory and computational staff with wet lab experiments and bioinformatics approaches, and offer technical guidance and mentorship to team members working on related projects. In this role you will develop pipelines and code for analysis of datasets both independently and in collaboration with members of the research team.
You must hold a degree in a relevant subject and a PhD (or near completion of a PhD) in musculoskeletal science, molecular biology, computational biology or equivalent. It is essential that you have demonstrable experience, ability and practical success in end-to-end analysis of bulk, single-cell and spatial transcriptomic datasets, including raw sequencing data processing, quality control, normalisation, data integration, and downstream analysis and interpretation. You will have expertise in statistical programming languages, particularly R and Python, with practical experience in developing, executing, and automating bioinformatics analyses. Familiarity with Bash and Linux environments, with the ability to operate efficiently within high-performance computing clusters for large-scale data analysis is essential for this role.
It is desirable that you have hands-on experience with the processing of human musculoskeletal tissues for single-cell sequencing applications, as well as an In-depth knowledge of musculoskeletal biology, including developmental processes, ageing, and disease pathogenesis. Experience in mentoring and teaching students or colleagues in computational biology, bioinformatics, or related fields is preferred.
This is a full time fixed-term appointment until 31st May 2025.
