The Recognition of Distinction reflects our staff's commitment to excellence in teaching and research.
This year's recipients are -
PROFESSOR MARK COLES
“It is a fantastic honour to have been awarded a Kennedy Professorship in Immunology in NDORMS. I am very excited about continuing to work with Arthritis – Therapy Acceleration Program and the underpinning research we are doing to discover and develop new therapeutics for rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory disease and cancer using interdisciplinary approaches. As Director of Graduate studies I have had the privilege of supporting the Kennedy Trust Prize Studentship program, developing the next generation of scientists to tackle chronic inflammatory human disease. I have recently become an official fellow and theme lead in cellular life at Reuben College, Oxford’s 39th and newest college which is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary exchange in an inclusive, innovative and impact-oriented community to support graduate student development.”
PROFESSOR DOMINIC FURNISS
"I am delighted to have been awarded the title Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the recent University Recognition of Distinction awards. It is eight years since I joined NDORMS, and in that time I have had the privilege of working with some amazingly talented students, post-doctoral researchers, and collaborating with other brilliant PI's. This award really is recognition of the hard work of this excellent team, and the unwavering support I have had within NDORMS."
Professor Richard Williams
"It was a great pleasure to receive the award and I am truly indebted to everyone who helped me to reach this goal. The support and mentorship provided by Profs Sir Marc Feldmann and Sir Tiny Maini has been especially important in my career and I look forward to celebrating with them and the rest of my colleagues during happier times."
