Benjamin Speich

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

I joined NDORMS in 2018 and will be working in the Centre for Statistics in Medicine for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.  My work is in the area of Research on Research, focusing on “Improving the reporting in randomised trials through observational and interventional research: from study protocols and registries to full text publications”.

I did my PhD at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute in Basel between 2011 and 2014. During my PhD I assessed different treatment options for intestinal helminth infections in a number of randomised controlled trials conducted in Tanzania.

After that I worked as a research fellow in the surgical department of the Kantonal Hospital Baselland and as a Postdoctoral researcher and clinical consultant at the University Hospital Basel. During that time, I conducted research on research, systematic reviews and worked in on several randomised clinical trials as a consultant.
