Caio Machado

DPhil student

Caio Machado finished his training in Medicine in 2011 (Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz - Brazil) and his specialization in Rheumatology in 2016 (University of Sao Paulo - Brazil). In 2017 he started his PhD studies at University in Sao Paulo, investigating the clinical and biological factors related to methotrexate resistance in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. In 2019 he was awarded the PRINT USP/CAPES grand and moved to Oxford to spend a year at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology in a sandwich PhD, under the supervision of Professors Christopher Buckley and Mark Coles, working on the Human Cell Atlas project. Currently, he is focused on understanding the embryonic development of stromal cells in synovial joints
