BSc, MSc

NIHR Senior Research Radiographer Specialist

  • Radioprotection Supervisor for the NIHR’s Clinical Trial Units
  • Non-core member of the MSK CRN Trials Steering Committee

As the sole Research Radiographer working within the Botnar Research Institute, Kennedy Research Institute and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre I inevitably find myself involved in several research projects and working with many research groups dedicated to varied specialties: Rheumatology, Orthopaedics, Epidemiology, Metabolic Bone diseases, etc.

My work is mainly focused on providing clinical medical imaging expertise to Principal Investigators, other Researchers and also Students, to enable the smooth running of clinical research trials and the collection/analysis of high-quality data. This can range for image/data acquisition & analysis to protocol development, in multiple imaging modalities: MRI, Ultrasound and X-ray, to name a few.

I’m particularly interested in research that involves:

  • Using MRI in new approaches to investigate & evaluate the cause and progression of orthopaedic and rheumatological pathologies;
  • Developing and testing new MRI protocols and sequences;
  • Exploring the potential of novel imaging applications & techniques that have direct impact in clinical practice;
  • Promoting the use of Ultrasound as an everyday tool for both diagnostics and monitoring the effects of treatment, by clinical specialists;
  • Expanding the scope of imaging and image processing in clinical research.
