Germana Sallemi

Senior Research Radiographer Specialist

As Senior Research Radiographer I facilitate and enhance clinical research within Botnar Research Institute, Kennedy Research Institute and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. I focus on patients in clinical studies and trials which help me to understand the mechanisms of disease and disability and involve me in several research projects working with many research groups dedicated to varied specialities: Rheumatology, Orthopaedics, Epidemiology, Metabolic Bone diseases, etc.

My work is mainly focused on providing clinical medical imaging expertise to Principal Investigators, other Researchers and also Students, to ensure that the projects are completed successfully and the collection/analysis of high-quality data and provides a unique opportunity to communicate and assist with future trial design and innovation.

This can vary from image/data acquisition & analysis to protocol development, in multiple modalities such as MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray and DEXA.

I am interested in research that involves:

  • promoting Ultrasound as primary diagnostic tool
  • using MRI in a new approach to investigate and evaluate the cause and progression of orthopaedic and rheumatological pathologies
  • expanding the scope of imaging and image processing in clinical research
