LIGHTWEIGHT ROWERS’ AND PHYSIOTHERAPISTS’ PERSPECTIVES OF MANAGING AND LIVING WITH RED-S

Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport

I am passionate about increasing the knowledge and awareness of RED-S. My aim is to have RED-S integrated into PSHE lessons across the country and all undergraduate health-care professional courses. I also want to increase the awareness to athletes by providing educational packages so that the symptoms can be recognised.

Early recognition of RED-S will enable appropriate identification, treatment and management of the syndrome. I, along with many teammates, have suffered with RED-S symptoms and so I want to make a change for the next generation of athletes to ensure longevity in the sport.
