IT Support Manager
I oversee the delivery and strategy of IT support and infrastructure - primarily at the Botnar Research Centre. The Botnar supports many research groups, all with differing needs, so a large focus of my role is to design and implement new support strategies to best serve these groups. I also get stuck in with daily IT issues when needed and I'm always looking for new ways to improve the support of IT systems here at NDORMS.
I work alongside the Kennedy Institute's IT Manager, the MSD IT team and the central IT Services of the University. I coordinate my strategic planning with the Botnar Administrator and Brian Marsden, PI of the Research Informatics Group.
I joined NDORMS in July 2016. Beforehand, I worked with the University of Oxford's IT Services Network Operations team as a senior engineer where I supported the backbone Cisco network connecting all University buildings to key services. From 2007-2014 I was an IT Engineer at a 1500 student 11-18 academy in Devon, which also supported local primary schools' IT needs. Here I supported all users at all levels, and managed a wide range of software and technologies, on a large number of Windows and Mac OS X systems.
I graduated with a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, but I quickly found a natural enthusiasm working with IT systems and helping others get the best out of them.
