Raj sits on the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) taskforce for the management of fatigue in rheumatic diseases, and is a two time recipient of the British Society for Rheumatology (BSR) education bursary. He has a strong research interest in musculoskeletal medicine and the benefits of exercise across a range of rheumatic diseases, and has published over 20 peer-reviewed academic publications in high impact journals such as the Lancet Rheumatology and the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Raj is an invited clinical lecturer at Queen Mary University of London and has regularly taught undergraduate and postgraduate students at both Imperial College London and University College London.
Raj has worked across several institutions including at the Royal Free Hospital where he received training in complex connective tissue diseases and scleroderma. He completed his internal medicine training at University College Hospital where he developed skills in managing hyperinflammatory syndromes and SLE. He has further trained at the Isokinetic FIFA medical centre of excellence in London and at other renowned centres including Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Barts Health NHS Trust. More recently, he has worked across elite sporting environments including basketball, cricket and premier league academy football, as well as at major events including the London marathon and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
In his free time, Raj is an avid professional magician and member of the Magic Circle. He also works regularly with patient charities such as Versus Arthritis and National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society (NASS).
