Robert Browne

Taught MSc student

I am a core surgical trainee from Ireland, planning to pursue a career in academic Plastic Surgery.

I am studying the Taught MSc in Musculoskeletal Sciences to gain an understanding of the basic and clinical science underpinning the musculoskeletal system, in health and disease. My research interest is in Hand Surgery, and encompasses both translational research and clinical trials.

I graduated with first class honours from both the undergraduate Medicine (MBBChBAO, 2020) and Masters in Surgery (MCh, 2021) courses from the University of Galway. I obtained an Academic Track Internship post through competitive interview, and have since progressed to plastic surgery themed core surgical training.

Prior to medicine, I worked in professional kitchens, including time as an Assistant Development Chef in the triple Michelin-starred The Fat Duck restaurant. I maintain my culinary interest through baking sourdough and viennoiserie, and balance this with regular exercise in the form of CrossFit.
