Bhavi Patel

Clinical Quality Improvement and Research Fellow

Biography

I completed my primary medical qualification at the University of Bristol in 2017 and earned a Bachelor of Sciences in Surgery and Anaesthesia from Imperial College London in 2016. Early in my career, I gained valuable experience in Trauma surgery during an elective placement at Tygerberg Hospital, a major trauma centre in Cape Town, South Africa.

Following my foundation training in the Wessex Deanery, I pursued core surgical training in the Thames Valley Deanery, where I have remained for higher specialty training in Trauma and Orthopaedics.

Currently, I have taken on the role of research and quality improvement fellow, away from my clinical training, at NDORMS, University of Oxford, where I work with the Revision Knee Network. My work aims to enhance care for individuals with problematic knee replacements, particularly by understanding the risk factors and demographics associated with prosthetic joint infections.

Outside of work, I am passionate about triathlon, having recently completed my first Half Ironman and Full Ironman distance events. A keen runner, I’ve also competed at the university level in athletics. In addition to sports, I enjoy playing classical music, with a focus on the piano.
