Two short videos from partner institutions in India capture how an IndOx Grant helped turn a research visit into lasting physiotherapy research capacity and international collaboration.

Cynthia Srikesavan

Dr Cynthia Swarnalatha, a Senior Researcher in Physiotherapy based at the Botnar Institute, University of Oxford was awarded the IndOx Grant for Research Travel and Visiting Academics in 2022. The award was to support knowledge dissemination and research capacity-building activities in India.

Through this funding, Cynthia delivered workshops on Translation, Cross-Cultural Adaptation, and Psychometric Evaluation of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures at two physiotherapy institutions:

  • SRM College of Physiotherapy, Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu
  • PP Savani College of Physiotherapy, PP Savani University, Surat, Gujarat

Two short impact videos, developed by SRM College and PP Savani College, showcase the outcomes of this work and highlight how the IndOx Grant enabled research capacity building and international academic partnerships, leading to meaningful real-world research impact.

Speaking about the work, Cynthia said: ‘The IndOx Grant has enabled the creation of two Indian research networks, strengthened local research capacity, and fostered research partnerships and knowledge dissemination - turning a single grant into a network of opportunities.’
