Hongyu Bai
DPhil student
Translational musculoskeletal researcher
I am a Visiting DPhil Student at NDORMS with a background combining clinical orthopaedics, bioinformatics, and translational musculoskeletal research. My research interests centre on tendon biology, post-traumatic musculoskeletal disorders, and the integration of transcriptomic approaches with clinical and experimental orthopaedic research. I am currently based in Sarah Snelling's Soft Tissue Repair Group, where my work focuses on tendon transcriptomics and musculoskeletal tissue biology.
I completed my Bachelor of Medicine at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and am currently undertaking doctoral training in sports medicine, orthopaedics, and musculoskeletal research.
Outside research, I enjoy reading across a wide range of subjects, with recent interests particularly focused on sociology and political thought. I also enjoy hiking, outdoor activities, and exploring new hobbies, cultures, and perspectives through conversations with people from different backgrounds.
