Kim Borsky
Clinical Research Fellow in Plastic Surgery
- DPhil student
I am a plastic surgery registrar, passionately pursuing a clinical academic career since 2015, with a growing interest in clinical outcome methods in trials. I have currently taken time out of my clinical training to pursue a DPhil in musculoskeletal sciences at the University of Oxford.
My work centres around outcome research, particularly in surgery, with a focus on the performance of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in clinical trials. I use psychometric techniques to evaluate and improve a PROMs performance and through that, contribute to providing more granular and robust data. This work is embedded in the Surgical Interventions and Trials Unit within NDORMS and the Oxford-Berlin Partnership for Enhancing Measurement in Clinical Trials.
Previously, I studied Medicine at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, where I also started my clinical training. In 2020, I moved to the UK to join the NHS for Core Surgical Training. As of 2022, I am a plastic surgery registrar in the Oxford Deanery. Simultaneously to my medical studies, I also completed a Bachelor's Degree in Economics at the University of Zurich and hope to combine my knowledge of health economics with my research on outcome methods. I have joined the University of Oxford as a Clarendon Scholar and have also received a fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons to pursue my research.
