David said: ‘It is an honour to take up the Kadoorie Professorship of Trauma Rehabilitation. I am excited about leading an expansion of research focused on accelerating recovery and restoring function for people with musculoskeletal injuries.

‘My work will centre on developing innovative rehabilitation interventions, advancing clinical effectiveness research, mentoring the next generation of researchers, and strengthening collaborations within the University and with partners across the UK and globally.’

Matt Costa, Professor of Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery at Oxford Trauma and Emergency Care said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Professor David Keene to the University of Oxford. As the Kadoorie Professor of Trauma Rehabilitation, David will lead a team of researchers investigating ways to improve the recovery of patients with all forms of musculoskeletal injury. He brings a wealth of experience to complement the existing expertise in the Oxford Trauma and Emergency Care Team at the Kadoorie Centre.’

Head of Department, Professor Jonathan Rees added: ‘I am so pleased we have been able to recruit someone of David’s calibre to this important statutory chair. David will not just lead trauma rehabilitation research at Oxford Trauma and Emergency Care but will support rehabilitation research and education across the department. I am very much looking forward to welcoming him to NDORMS in July.’
