The Chief Investigator presented the much awaited study results of the OCTRU Translate trial at the European Association of Urology meeting in Madrid on 23 March, with the study results paper being simultaneously published in Lancet Oncology.

The TRANSLATE study team reported on their mutlicentre, randomised controlled trial which recruited from across the UK and investigated two routinely used prostate cancer biopsy techniques - Local anaesthetic transperineal (LATP) versus transrectal prostate approach (TRUS).

The reported that for individuals who had not had a prostate biopsy before and being investigated for possible prostate cancer, biopsy with LATP led to greater detection of Gleason Grade Group (GGG) 2 or higher prostate cancer compared with TRUS.

The study's findings will help to inform patients and clinicans about the two biopsies.
