Brook Leung

BMBS MSc MRCS

DPhil student

  • Lord Nuffield Scholar
  • Member of the Oxford Orthopaedic Engineering Centre

Brook studied medicine at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, qualifying in 2021. He completed his foundation training in London before spending six months as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Whilst in New York, he conducted biomechanical and clinical research on both unicompartmental knee replacements and ACL injury prevention strategies.

This research laid the foundation for his DPhil, which is supervised by Professor David Murray and Associate Professor Stephen Mellon at the Oxford Orthopaedic Engineering Centre.

Brook’s work focuses on optimising the Oxford Unicompartmental Knee Replacement (OUKR), the most widely used partial knee replacement globally. His project aims to improve component positioning, knee kinematics, and patient outcomes of the OUKR through the development of novel, computer-assisted surgery techniques.

Outside of work he enjoys cooking, drawing and playing golf, albeit the latter rather poorly.
