Background:

Dr. Mercaitis has a background in orthopaedics and plastics research, having gained valuable experience at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and the University of Miami Division of Plastic Surgery.  His research mentors have also included orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Allen L. Carl based in Upstate New York.  His current research involves novel treatments for sports-related injuries and he has a keen interest in the intersection of business and medicine.

Outside of his work in Boston, he enjoys sailing and playing polo.
