Clinical Fellow - Sarcoma & Revision Arthroplasty
Raja Bhaskara Rajasekaran is a Clinical Fellow in Sarcoma at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (NOC) and the Girdlestone Scholar at the University of Oxford (NDORMS) for 2020-21. After completing his basic medical training in Sri Ramachandra University at Chennai, he completed his orthopaedic training at Sancheti Institute of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation (SIOR) at Pune, India. Following that, he trained as a Registrar in Orthopaedic Trauma in Ganga Medical Centre at Coimbatore, India. He completed his FNB in Trauma Care and then trained as Fellow in Joint Replacement & Revision Arthroplasty for 2 years.
In 2018, he completed an Arthroplasty Fellowship in Germany at Schon Klinik, Bad aibling & at Helios Endoklinik, Hamburg. In 2020, he began his clinical fellowship in the Oxford Bone & Soft tissue Tumour service. He is the Girdlestone Scholar at the University of Oxford for 2020-21 and his research was at the Botnar Research Centre under Professor Andrew Carr. Clinically he has special interest in Revision Joint Arthroplasty, Sarcoma surgery and Peri-prosthetic joint infection.
He was adjudged the Best Outgoing Post-Graduate in 2014 at SIOR, Pune. He won the Prof PT Rao Gold Medal in 2012, the Prof AA Mehta Gold Medal in 2016 and the Prof SS Yadav Gold Medal in 2019 at IOACON (Annual National Conference of the Indian Orthopaedic Association). In 2018, he was the recepient of the 'Young Ambassador' award at the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Conference (APOA) in Antalya, Turkey. In January 2020, he won the Prof KT Dholakia Award for the Best Research in under 40 years category at the Ranawat Orthopaedic Conference in Mumbai, India. He was awarded the John Spivey Prize in Orthopaedic Oncology for his contribution in clinical work and research during his Fellowship at Oxford, UK. He also completed his Fellowship in Orthopaedic Oncology at Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham, UK following his tenure at Oxford.
At present, he is working as a Senior Registrar in Musculoskeletal Oncology & Arthroplasty at Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore - one of the largest tertiary Orthopaedic units in Asia.
