DPhil student Pradeep Kumar Sacitharan won Nature Reviews Rheumatology Best Talk Award at the inaugural osteoarthritis therapeutics conference in Budapest, Hungary. The conference held in December focussed on bringing together world experts to strategise and present ideas on new drug targets and drug delivery methods for osteoarthritis.
Pradeep is supervised by Dr James Edwards and Prof Tonia Vincent and presented his findings on a novel ageing mechanism in cartilage which could be a possible drug target for osteoarthritis in the future.
Pradeep said "I am very happy with this prize and more so that my work has been recognised at the world stage. This gives me confidence to keep pursuing the research I am currently doing and to work even harder to contribute to the field in the future".
We wish Pradeep all the best in his research endeavours.
