Miriam Angulo Salazar
BSc, MSc
OTMC Biobank Administrator
I studied Biological Sciences at the University of Salamanca, Spain followed by a Master’s degree Course in Microbiology at the Institute of Science and Technology of Barcelona, Spain.
I joined the Oxford Translational Myeloma Centre (OTMC) in 2024 after initially working in the Molecular Haematology Unit at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine since 2019. My main areas of work included biobanking of clinical trial samples, analysis of Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) using flow cytometry and molecular testing at diagnosis and throughout treatment.
My work as the OTMC Biobank Administrator focuses on the day-to-day management and administration of the biobank, ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. I also oversee and coordinate laboratory activities and the overall operation of the biobank. As part of the Biobank Governance Committee team, I actively contribute to the development, improvement and the quality management of the biobank.
My role plays a crucial part in supporting scientific research to gain a better understanding of the biology of multiple myeloma and plasma cell dyscrasias. Ultimately, this contributes to the improvement of patient outcomes through better use of existing treatments and the discovery of novel therapies.
