The Alan Turing Institute is the UK’s national institute for data science and AI. As a Fellow, Antonella will form part of a UK-wide community of over 400 Turing Fellows for 2021 – 2022, which spans the full spectrum of data science from methods to application. The cohort includes 33 academics and researchers from Oxford, offering an opportunity to establish new connections and collaborations within Oxford and further afield.
Antonella is a computer scientist and software engineer at the Centre for Statistics in Medicine (CSM) at NDORMS. She is responsible for the automation of data engineering, data mining and advanced curation of real-world health data routinely collected by GPs, hospitals, and registries.
Antonella joined the Clinical Trial Service Unit at Oxford University in 2006, before moving to NDORMS in 2013 to lead the big data management of the Epidemiology Unit, where she started developing Curator, a data science tool for clinical real-world data which has allowed for the delivery of more than twenty observational studies so far.
On being selected as a Fellow, Antonella said “This award is a recognition of the pivotal role of computer science in real-world clinical research and opens up new opportunities for collaboration and networking: I am delighted.”
