Supporting the two-year part time MSc in Musculoskeletal Sciences is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role. What makes this course truly special is the way it brings together clinicians, scientists, and allied health professionals from across the world, creating a diverse community united by a passion for advancing musculoskeletal research. Alongside amazing teaching sessions, the course provides opportunities to develop critical research skills and build networks that last far beyond Oxford. I am proud to support a programme that not only inspires confidence and collaboration but also helps shape the next generation of leaders in the musculoskeletal sciences field.

Sarah SnellingSarah Snelling, Co-Director of the Taught MSc in Musculoskeletal Science

As Co-Director, I’m proud of how the MSc in Musculoskeletal Sciences continues to evolve. We are responsive to emerging trends and challenges in the field, reflected in the recent introduction of in new themed modules—on topics including medical device design and regulation, and joint infection. Our teaching combines immersive in-person weeks, problem-based learning, and research-led assignments to foster mechanistic understanding, critical thinking and real-world application. Students gain strong foundations in basic and translational science, while developing skills in systematic reviewing of scientific literature and research design. Graduates leave equipped not just with knowledge, but with the tools and confidence to grow and lead academic and clinical work in the rapidly advancing musculoskeletal science landscape.

The taught MSc in Musculoskeletal Sciences is a fantastic course that provides a solid understanding of the clinical treatment and underlying pathology of musculoskeletal diseases. As an administrator, I support the students throughout their studies and help organise the in-person teaching, assessments, and social events over the two-year programme. The teaching and assessments are provided by a network of experts from clinical and core science backgrounds. Our students form great connections with their cohort during the residential weeks in Oxford, and as a part-time course, the MSc can fit around students’ existing career and home-life commitments. It’s a lovely programme to be part of!
