NIHR Senior Investigators are among the most prominent and prestigious researchers funded by the NIHR. They are outstanding leaders in their fields and are important NIHR ambassadors, contributing to the development of the next generation of health researchers.
"Receiving the NIHR Senior Investigator award is a personal honour that reflects years of commitment. As a medical statistician focussed on improving the design, analysis and transparent reporting of healthcare research, so that it has value to patients and the wider society, I am particularly thrilled to be recognised." says Professor Gary Collins.
He adds: "I believe the credit extends far beyond myself. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has been with me on this journey, including those already holding this distinction within NDORMS, the University and beyond – but most of all to my team and collaborators. The NIHR is a fantastic organisation, and this prestigious award fuels my motivation to continue carrying out leading healthcare research. NIHR Senior Investigators receive a discretionary award of £20,000 a year to fund activities that support their research and the awards are four years in duration.
