Hannah McGivern
BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD
QUOD Research Assistant
Since joining the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences in September 2019, my role as Tissue Handling Technician supports the collection, processing and archiving of biological samples for the Oxford Transplant Biobank (OTB) and the Quality in Organ Donation (QUOD) biobank, in accordance with the ethical and regulatory requirements of the Human Tissue Act (2004) and National Research Ethics Service. These repositories support research concerned with improving organ transplant outcomes.
My daily activities include the accurate entry and updating of the biobank databases, preparation and processing of soft tissue biopsies (such as microtomy) for the QUOD library and research projects in keeping with standard operating procedures.
My background includes my role as a PhD researcher which focused on the analysis and impact of ageing on bone.
