Bio
I am an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer and Specialist Registrar (ST7) in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. I am the Deputy Director of the Surgical Interventional Trials Unit (SITU) at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), University of Oxford. I am currently funded via an NIHR Development and Skills Enhancement (NIHR DSE) award. My research focuses on surgical trials in plastic surgery, hand trauma and reconstruction, including mitigation of surgical site infection and effectiveness of antimicrobial interventions. In 2023, I completed a full-time DPhil in Musculoskeletal Sciences, funded via the NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship programme. Prior to my DPhil, I completed an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at NDORMS, University of Oxford and Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. My undergraduate training took place at the University of East Anglia, where I attained my MB/BS and Master of Health Research (MRes) with distinction. I undertook my foundation years and core surgical training in London at St. Mary's Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, the Royal Free Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
I have published 127 peer-reviewed papers and have received major research awards from the NIHR, RCS, BSSH and BAPRAS. I am the Trainee Lead for the Reconstructive Surgery Trials Network and an Associate Surgical Specialty Lead for Plastic and Hand Surgery for the Royal College of Surgeons of England. I am the Stipendiary Lecturer in Clinical Surgery at Merton College, Oxford and Clinical Teaching Associate for Surgery at Christ Church College, Oxford. I am also a Sara Hope Brown Research Associate at Jesus College, Oxford. I am the Patient and Public Involvement Lead for the BSSH and am a member of the BAPRAS Research Committee.
