CLINICAL TRIALS assistant

Grade 4, £25,138-£28,759 p.a

We have an exciting opportunity for Clinical Trials Assistant to join the Surgical Intervention Trials Unit (SITU) within Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) based at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford. As a Clinical Trials Assistant within SITU, you will be assisting the trial managers of the group in the successful delivery of research projects. You will provide a comprehensive and efficient administration and support service for the Trials Group for several trials in the SITU portfolio of trials.

Successful research involves collaboration with hospitals around the UK, and you will liaise with a variety of staff both within the trials group and nationally. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting studies through the various phases (set up, recruitment, data collection, monitoring, follow up, close out). While undertaking this role you will be exposed to all aspects of trial management (e.g. financial budgeting, contracting) which are undertaken through the phases of a project, providing a great opportunity to develop an understanding and skills in this area.

You will be educated to A-Level or equivalent secretarial/administrative qualifications or relevant experience and have experience of using administrative skills in office environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as proficiency in spoken/written English, and a high level of computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office Excel and Word is essential. Familiarity with ethics and Research and Development (Research Governance) documentation and of working within an academic research environment would be desirable.

CLINICAL TRIALS MANAGER (x2 posts)

We have an exciting opportunity for Clinical Trials Manager to join the Surgical Intervention Trials Unit (SITU) within Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) based at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford.

As a Clinical Trial Manager you will be responsible for at least one main trial or study, coordinating activities to ensure on-time, on–target delivery of each in compliance with applicable policies and legislation. You will also coordinate the implementation and running of the clinical trial across participating hospital sites in the UK, ensuring timely data collection, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) compliance and undertaking regular monitoring site-visits. You will also facilitate meetings of trial committees and be responsible for ensuring relevant and timely updates for project stakeholders. You will ensure the studies comply with CTU Standard Operating Procedures.

You will hold a Degree in a biomedical or associated subject, or other relevant qualification, or proven experience in clinical research. Understanding of clinical research methodology, good clinical practice and the research governance framework together with experience and understanding of techniques for the management of medical research information are essential.

Previous experience as a trial coordinator/manager and previous experience of working within primary or secondary care NHS settings are desirable.
