Kirsten Leyland
BA, MSc, DPhil
HONORARY Postdoctoral Epidemiologist
Kirsten Leyland completed her Master's degree at University College London in 2007 focussing on osteology and spinal osteoarthritis, and completed a DPhil at the University of Oxford in 2012 on the relationship between structural knee osteoarthritis and pain. She is currently a postdoctoral epidemiologist for the ARUK centre for sport, exercise and osteoarthritis.
Dr. Leyland's research interests include early risk factors for incident knee and hip osteoarthritis, particularly joint morphology, injury and physical activity in the normal population. She is leading an international collaboration for an individual patient level meta-analysis on the association of physical activity and osteoarthritis, as well as the increased risk of mortality in subjects with osteoarthritis.
