The UK STAR trial is entering its analysis phase today.

UK STAR logo

UK STAR is comparing participants' outcomes after Achilles tendon rupture, treated non-operatively, to see whether people do better when placed in a plaster cast or an orthopaedic boot (also called a functional brace).

The project completed recruitment in May 2017 with a total of 540 participants - higher than the original planned recruitment target. Follow-up is now complete, with a 93% response rate achieved.

UK STAR will be entering the analysis phase today and the team is expecting to publish results this September 2019.
