Jonathan was one of four Oxford academics, supported by the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre, to have been awarded the prestigious national award in recognition of being “among the most prominent and prestigious researchers funded by the NIHR and the most outstanding leaders of patient and people-based research within the NIHR research community”.
At the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), Jonathan combines a clinical role as a Consultant Orthopaedic Shoulder Surgeon with a research programme on ‘Improving Orthopaedic Patient Outcomes and Treatment Delivery’.
“It is very pleasing to receive this award, but it is in part a reflection on the excellent support and resources available to me through NDORMS and the NIHR Oxford BRC,” he said.
Prof Andrew Carr, Nuffield Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Head of Department at NDORMS received the prestigious title of Senior Investigator Emeritus in recognition of the work he has carried out as a Senior Investigator and continues to do.
