Pradeep asbmr award
Pradeep Kumar Sacitharan (right) receives his ASBMR Young Investigator Award 2016, in Atlanta, USA.

Pradeep Kumar Sacitharan picked up the new investigator award at the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) annual meeting held in Atlanta. The ASBMR is the biggest musculoskeletal society in the world and its annual meeting attracts the best clinical and basic science in the field. This year's conference showcased over 1300 scientific abstracts submitted by scientists from around the globe.

Pradeep won the new investigator award based on his scientific abstract describing how healthy processes in cells are lost during ageing and why this leads to osteoarthritis. The award is given to top ranking abstracts in a competition, which is judged by the ASBMR scientific committee.

Pradeep previously won British and European new investigator awards for his DPhil research, which has been supervised by Dr James Edwards and Professor Tonia Vincent.

Pradeep commented: "I am delighted with my award and this is great way to end my DPhil. I would like to thank both my supervisors and the wider Kennedy and NDORMS communities for their support over the past four years. I could not have reached all my goals during my DPhil without the support of everyone."

We wish Pradeep the best of luck in his research career.
