Chen-Yi Wang
Postdoctoral Researcher
My research interests have been focused on chromatin biology since my master degree at the institute of Biopharmaceutical Science in National Yang-Ming University, Taiwan. It began from how telomere and telomerase are involved in cellular senescence and carcinogenesis, to histone modifications in the regulation of transcription and chromatin structure.
With the support of an international joint project between Taiwan (Dr. Kao, Academia Sinica) and France (Dr. Devys and Dr. Tora, IGBMC), I joined Dr. Devys' team at IGBMC at 2012, to discover the dynamics of a transcription coactivator, SAGA complex, by applying chromatin-immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and the next-generation sequencing (NGS) technique to investigate the genome-wide distribution of two histone marks modulated by SAGA. I have gained my knowledge and expertise in the NGS and Bioinformatics fields since then. In 2014, I moved to the group of Prof Filippakopoulos in the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, University of Oxford. I had successfully set up the ChIP-seq protocol in the lab and applied it to the studies on histone acetylation and their reader proteins such as BET proteins in cancer cells.
To have more practical experiences on NGS data analyses and bioinformatics, I have joined Prof Oppermann’s group at the Botnar Research Centre since 2017 and acquired further bioinformatic training in CGAT (Computational Genomics Analysis and Training programme). Currently I participate in the projects of Bayer-Oxford Alliance for Women’s Health as an experimental and computational biologist, to discover the putative targets and/or pathways in women diseases by system biology approaches.
