SITU apprentice Teya Agnese wins Oxfordshire apprentice of the year 2020 award
Teya Agnese has won Apprentice of the Year at the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards! At the virtual event on Thursday 1st October, Teya also won the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year!
This year, as with everything, was slightly different for the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards. The OxLEP Apprenticeship team and ambassadors did a brilliant job at hosting a virtual broadcast featuring the sponsors of the awards.
Teya says: "I spent this evening watching the broadcast from my kitchen with my family and I huddled around my laptop, eating a takeaway, and waiting for the part where my award category was announced. There was no glamorous dress or heels unfortunately, only my fluffy hoodie and slippers, but despite not having the excitement of dressing up and attending the face-to-face event, it was still an amazing feeling to have been able to share the experience with my family. I also had my Line Manager, Heidi, and Mentor, Katie, on a Microsoft TEAMS chat so we could message back and forth during the broadcast, enabling me to share the moment with them as well. "
Her tremendous achievements stood out and were recognised by the judging panel last week, at the awards ceremony held virtually. Teya brought home not just one but two awards, as she won the Oxfordshire Apprentice of the Year Award as well.
Teya said on receiving the award: "I felt so honoured to have been recognised for my work as an apprentice by not only my team at SITU, but also the sponsors of the awards: Abbott Diabeties Care (who sponsored the Intermediate Apprentice Award) and High Spec Composties (who sponsored the Apprentice of the Year Award). Thank you to all for your help and support!"
Heidi Fletcher, Teya's line manager says: "Teya has from the very beginning been a fantastic asset. She always puts in 110% effort and succeeds in everything she is asked to do. Not only does she work hard for us here in SITU, she has also done a lot of outreach and ambassador work in her own time. She supports apprentices around the University, managing the Apprenticeship Networking Group for University of Oxford Apprentices, and has provided advice to young people at schools across Oxfordshire. She is well deserving of all her awards; we are very lucky to have her.”

Huge congratulations to Teya and to all of the finalists and many thanks to OxLEP and all of the sponsors.
